Meet the crew.
Anderson’s Fish Camp is guide-owned and operated; something we are extremely proud of. We believe that a fly fishing trip is an experience that we, as guides, curate through love, passion, and dedication to what we do. In light of that, we decided to cut out the idea of owning a shop filled with stuff and focus on what we do best: guiding/ teaching/ sharing. We are not going to take you to a fly shop before or after each trip and try to sell you any kind of gear. We are here to give you the experience of fly fishing in a way that is honest and genuine and born from a love of this sport. We will show up prepared and ready to maximize our time on the water. We want a personal experience for each guest; from the initial booking to the fish on the line, and we hope to continue to impress you.
Cooper Anderson Cooper, born and raised in Vail, has been fishing the waters around the Vail Valley for over 40 years. He grew up fly fishing with his dad and brothers in Vail and knows the local rivers and creeks like the back of his hand. Cooper’s life-long dedication to the sport makes him one of the most experienced guides in Vail, period. Combine his unrivaled knowledge with patient teaching techniques for a winning combination on a guided trip. Cooper’s love for fly fishing doesn’t stop in the Vail Valley; get him talking about his travels for bonefish, tarpon, snook, bass, pike, carp, or salmon and you will surely catch a glimpse of his passion for fly fishing. Cooper will show you where the hungry trout hide, and has plenty of techniques that will keep you coming back!
Katie Fiedler One of Vail’s veteran fly fishing guides, Katie, is an enthusiastic and patient teacher. She loves to spark passion for the sport of fly fishing by sharing her knowledge gained over 15 years of guiding and she has a reputation for getting the kiddos hooked! Before Katie became a fishing guide, she worked as a raft guide, video kayaker, rock climbing instructor, and high ropes instructor. Teaching and the outdoors is in her blood. If you ask Katie her favorite part of guiding, it’s “sparking joy through teaching a rewarding craft!” A certified USCG Captain and EMT, Katie takes fly fishing everywhere she travels and has a thirst for learning more. She competes in the invite-only Women’s Tarpon Fly Fishing Tournament in the Florida Keys and also loves to reel in bass with her Dad in Illinois, but her favorite time is spent taking her child out fishing local rivers. Katie will facilitate unforgettable memories on the Vail Valley’s finest stretches of trout-filled rivers with simple and effective ways to make fly fishing a sport for the entire family!
Mark Weshler ( Wex ) – Mark is a super fishy guy with a deep history of lines in the water by gathering almost 2 decades of guiding experience on the Eagle River. Given that history, Mark has likely come face-to-face with almost every fish on the Eagle River, and yet he still wants more, as guiding is his life passion. If you ask Mark what he did yesterday, he will undoubtedly say, ” I just went fishing…..” We recognize Mark as patient, friendly, and super keen at recognizing what a trout is eating. Anderson’s Fish Camp is grateful to have Mark on our team!
